This film documents a six-year project initiated by the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Manitoba in collaboration with China’s Women’s University and the Women’s Federation of China.

The project initiated rural social work services in three provinces – Sichuan, Inner Mongolia and Shandong. Each project developed a unique rural social work service model according to is respective socio-economic and cultural characteristics. But the priority in each region has been similar – the training of trainers to reduce gender inequality by addressing the specific needs of rural women.

More than Half the Sky portrays some of these efforts in Sichuan province.
